PRESS RELEASE

On Friday, 1/4/08 the Gilchrist County Sheriff's Office was conducting a follow-up investigation regarding a wanted fugitive from the State of Kentucky. While waiting on the suspect to return, deputies observed marijuana plants growing in plain view.

A total of fifty-seven (57) marijuana plants were seized, having a street value of $57,000.00. Arrested was Michael Surprenant W/M DOB/120963 of Odessa, Fla. but currently residing in Bell, Florida. Surprenant was charged locally with Growing & cultivation of Cannabis a third degree felony. Suprenant waived his right to first appearance and as of 1/7/08 is awaiting legal counsel; no bond has been set at this time.
